Apple’s Creator Studio subscription just got its biggest update since it launched. There are AI assistants in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers, a new Generate Fill in Pixelmator Pro, and MCP support so outside AI agents can edit your documents.
The rollout started on 5 November 2026 with Logic Pro. The other apps follow later in November. This guide covers every new feature, what you need to use it, what it costs, and how it compares with Adobe.
- Price: $12.99/month or $129/year (US), Family Sharing for up to six people. Students and teachers pay $2.99/month or $29.99/year.
- Logic Pro 13.0 (out now): beta Intelligent Assistant, drum-aware Stem Splitter, a new Browser with Splice sounds, Play Surface and Sidecar control.
- Pixelmator Pro: Generate Fill. Circle an area, type what you want, get a new layer with a mask.
- Keynote, Pages, Numbers: beta assistant built on Apple models plus OpenAI, and MCP support on the Mac (beta).
- Catch: the AI features are US English only, need an Apple Intelligence device on macOS/iOS/iPadOS 27, and are not in the free iWork apps or the one-time Logic Pro purchase.
What Apple Creator Studio Is
Creator Studio is Apple’s answer to Adobe Creative Cloud. It launched earlier in 2026 as one subscription that bundles Apple’s pro creative apps.
Here is what the subscription includes, according to MacRumors and TidBITS:
- Video: Final Cut Pro, Motion and Compressor.
- Music: Logic Pro and MainStage.
- Images: Pixelmator Pro (Mac and iPad).
- Productivity: the paid “intelligence” features in Keynote, Pages and Numbers. The basic apps stay free.
| Plan | Price (US) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Creator Studio monthly | $12.99/month | One-month free trial for new subscribers |
| Creator Studio yearly | $129/year | Family Sharing for up to six people |
| Students and educators | $2.99/month or $29.99/year | Replaces the old $199.99 Pro Apps Bundle for Education |
| New Mac or qualifying iPad | 3 months free | Offer from Apple at launch |
Note: You can still buy the Mac apps once: Final Cut Pro $299.99, Logic Pro $199.99, Pixelmator Pro $49.99, Motion $49.99, Compressor $49.99 and MainStage $29.99. The new AI assistants are subscription-only.

Logic Pro 13: Intelligent Assistant and Stem Splitter
Logic Pro is the first app to get the update. Version 13.0 shipped on 5 November for both the Creator Studio and the one-time purchase versions.
The Intelligent Assistant (beta)
This is a chat assistant inside Logic Pro on the Mac. Apple says it uses its own models plus OpenAI. Apple hasn’t said which OpenAI model.
Apple’s examples of what you can ask:
- Start a song: describe a genre or mood and let it build a starting beat.
- Set up a vocal track from one prompt, with the right channel strip and effects.
- Navigate workflows: ask how to do something instead of hunting through menus.
- Refine a project that is already in progress.
Warning: The assistant is not in the $199.99 one-time Logic Pro. Apple’s fine print lists a Creator Studio subscription, an Apple silicon Mac with Apple Intelligence, macOS 27 or later, iCloud sign-in and English only. Usage limits may apply.
The other Logic Pro 13 features
These work in both versions of Logic Pro:
- Stem Splitter with drums: it now splits a drum stem into kick, snare, hi-hat, toms, cymbals and other percussion. You can rebalance a drum mix without the original multitracks.
- New Browser: loops, one-shots, patches and presets in one place. On-device audio analysis tags your sounds, so you can search in plain language. Licensed Splice sounds appear here too.
- Play Surface: a resizable window with drum pads, chord pads and a keyboard you can play with a typing keyboard, mouse or iPad.
- Sidecar control: use an iPad as a multi-touch controller for Live Loops, Step Sequencer, plug-ins and mixer channels.
- Step Sequencer multi-select and a Liquid Glass redesign.
- Sergio George Producer Pack with salsa and Latin jazz loops.
Pixelmator Pro Generate Fill
Generate Fill is Pixelmator Pro’s version of the generative fill that Adobe added to Photoshop in 2023. You mark an area, describe what should be there, and the app paints it in.
- Select the area. Draw a rough circle around it, or use the Free, Quick or Magnetic Selection tools for a clean edge.
- Describe the change. Type what you want, for example “replace the sky with a sunset” or “remove the bin and fill with grass”.
- Let it generate. Apple says the result matches the lighting, perspective and texture around it, and runs through Super Resolution so it isn’t soft.
- Choose where it goes. Merge it into the current layer, or put it on a new layer with an intelligent mask you can refine.
Tip: Always keep the new-layer option on. If the result is close but not right, you can mask or blend it by hand instead of regenerating.
Apple hasn’t published credit limits for Generate Fill. Adobe’s generative fill uses monthly credits, which I explain in my Adobe Firefly pricing guide.
Keynote, Pages and Numbers Assistant
The three iWork apps share one beta assistant. It reads the document you have open, so you can ask for changes in context. Apple says it uses Apple models plus OpenAI.
| App | What the assistant helps with | Example prompt |
|---|---|---|
| Keynote | Designing, animating and refining slides | “Turn slide 4 into a three-column comparison and add a build animation” |
| Pages | Drafting, restructuring and fine-tuning text | “Rewrite this section for a non-technical reader and add subheadings” |
| Numbers | Calculating, charting, organising; custom tables from world knowledge | “Add a column with each country’s capital and chart sales by region” |
Numbers also recommends chart types with a one-tap preview, according to 9to5Mac. Keynote gains a new JSON-based Keynote Interchange Format (.keyx), which outside tools and AI agents can read.
Note: Keynote, Pages and Numbers stay free on every Apple device. The assistant is only for Creator Studio subscribers, so the free and paid versions now differ.
If you work in Microsoft Office instead, compare it with my Copilot in Word, Excel and PowerPoint guide.
MCP Support: Let AI Agents Edit Your Files
This is the most interesting part for AI users. Keynote, Pages and Numbers on the Mac get Model Context Protocol (MCP) support in beta.
MCP is the open standard that lets AI agents use outside tools. With it, an agent can read a document, make edits and run automated actions in the three apps. That’s how Apple describes it.
What you could do with it, once your agent supports it:
- Build a deck from data: an agent reads a spreadsheet and creates Keynote slides with charts.
- Batch-edit documents: update the same clause or date across many Pages files.
- Report automation: pull numbers into a Numbers sheet every week and refresh the summary.
Warning: Apple hasn’t documented which actions MCP exposes, how you approve an agent’s edits, or which agents are supported. Test it on copies of important files first.
Apple hasn’t named compatible agents. Any desktop MCP client should work in principle, but check once Apple publishes the docs. For background on MCP clients and servers, see my best MCP servers guide and LM Studio MCP agent mode guide.
Final Cut Pro, Motion and Freeform
The video apps get fewer AI features but a lot of new content. Apple bought MotionVFX in March 2026, and its effects are now built in.
Final Cut Pro (Mac)
- MotionVFX built in: thousands of templates, titles, transitions and graphics, plus rotoscoping, tracking and colour grading tools.
- Content Hub: Apple-curated stock video, photos and backgrounds inside the app.
- Pixelmator Pro round-trip: open a still image from the timeline, edit it and the change saves back to the project.
- 23 more transcription languages for captions, more keyframe easing options, and clips you can detach from the primary storyline.
Motion, Compressor and Freeform
- Motion: MotionVFX plug-ins, new 3D camera tracking, a Displacement filter and Pixelmator round-trip.
- Compressor: encodes Cinematic mode video from the iPhone 18 Pro.
- Freeform: text styles and custom board colours now. Pixelmator editing and text-to-shape generation arrive in December.

Requirements and Who Gets What
The confusing part is that features depend on how you got the app. This table sorts it out.
| Feature | Creator Studio | One-time purchase | Free iWork |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logic Pro Intelligent Assistant | Yes (Mac) | No | – |
| Logic Pro Stem Splitter, Browser, Play Surface | Yes | Yes | – |
| Pixelmator Pro Generate Fill | Yes | Not confirmed | – |
| Keynote/Pages/Numbers assistant | Yes | – | No |
| iWork MCP support | Yes (Mac, beta) | – | Not stated |
| MotionVFX in Final Cut Pro | Yes | Not confirmed | – |
System requirements for the AI assistants, from Apple’s notes reported by TidBITS:
- Device: an Apple Intelligence-capable Mac, iPhone or iPad.
- Software: macOS 27 “Golden Gate”, iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 or later.
- Language: US English only for now.
- Account: signed in to an Apple Account with iCloud.
If you aren’t sure your device supports Apple Intelligence, check my iOS 27 Apple Intelligence guide.
How to Get the New Features
- Update your OS. Install macOS 27, iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 from Settings (or System Settings) > General > Software Update.
- Turn on Apple Intelligence. Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and switch it on. Set your device and Siri language to English (US).
- Subscribe or start the trial. Open any Creator Studio app or the App Store and start the one-month trial if you’re new.
- Update the apps. Open the App Store, go to Updates, and install Logic Pro 13.0 now. The others appear during November.
- Find the assistant. Look for the new assistant button or panel in the app’s toolbar. It is marked beta.
Tip: If you only want Logic Pro’s new Stem Splitter and Browser, the one-time version is enough. Subscribe only if you want the assistant or several apps.
Creator Studio vs Adobe Creative Cloud
TidBITS compared the prices. Creator Studio is $129 a year. Premiere Pro alone is $263.88 a year, and Creative Cloud Pro is $779.88 a year.
| Apple Creator Studio | Adobe Creative Cloud Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Yearly price (US) | $129 | $779.88 |

Troubleshooting
I don’t see the assistant
- Check the version: only Logic Pro 13.0 is out. Keynote, Pages and Numbers update later in November.
- Check the language: set both device and Siri language to English (US).
- Check the licence: the one-time Logic Pro and the free iWork apps don’t include the assistant.
- Check Apple Intelligence: it must be on, and your Mac must be Apple silicon.
It says the feature isn’t available in my region
The assistants launch in US English. Apple hasn’t announced other languages yet. Changing the language may work, but region rules can still block it.
Generate Fill looks wrong
- Make the selection a bit bigger than the object, so the model has context.
- Be specific: “green lawn matching the left side” works better than “grass”.
- Use a new layer and mask the edges by hand.
My AI agent can’t connect over MCP
MCP is Mac-only and in beta. Make sure you are on macOS 27, the iWork apps are updated, and your agent supports MCP. Apple’s setup docs weren’t public when I wrote this, so I’ll update this section when they are.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Apple Creator Studio cost?
$12.99 a month or $129 a year in the US, with Family Sharing for up to six people. Students and educators pay $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year.
Which AI model does the Creator Studio assistant use?
Apple says the assistants combine Apple-built models with OpenAI models. It hasn’t named the OpenAI model or said how work is split between them.
Is the Logic Pro AI assistant in the one-time purchase version?
No. The Intelligent Assistant needs a Creator Studio subscription. Stem Splitter, the new Browser and other Logic Pro 13 features are in both versions.
When do Keynote, Pages and Numbers get the AI assistant?
Later in November 2026. Logic Pro 13.0 shipped first on 5 November, and the other apps follow during the month.
What is MCP support in Keynote, Pages and Numbers?
It lets external AI agents read your documents, make edits and run actions through the Model Context Protocol. It is Mac-only and in beta.
Does Pixelmator Pro Generate Fill work like Photoshop’s generative fill?
Yes, the idea is the same: select an area and describe the change. Pixelmator adds Super Resolution and can place the result on a new layer with a mask.
Do I need a new Mac for the AI features?
No, but you need an Apple Intelligence-capable device running macOS 27, iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, and US English as the language.
Final Thoughts
For $129 a year, Creator Studio now has real AI features, not just a cheaper bundle. Logic Pro’s drum stem splitting is the update I’d use most. MCP in iWork is the one to watch.
The catches are the US-English-only launch and the vague privacy details for the OpenAI-backed assistant. I’ll update this guide as the remaining apps ship.
