Google’s Pixel 11 looks almost identical to last year’s phone, and that is the point: the upgrade is in the software.
Launched on August 12, 2026 with the new Tensor G6 chip, the Pixel 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL are built around what Google calls Gemini Intelligence: an assistant that can complete tasks across more than 40 apps, phone a restaurant for you, pull details from your apps before you ask, and translate videos and voice messages into your language.
This guide explains every AI feature on the Pixel 11, how to use each one, what is US-only, and whether it is worth upgrading from a Pixel 9 or 10.
- Prices: Pixel 11 $899, Pixel 11 Pro $1,099, Pixel 11 Pro XL $1,299; all start at 256 GB. On sale since August 20, 2026.
- Gemini agentic tasks: multistep tasks across 40+ apps (groceries, rides, coffee) and calls to businesses for reservations, US first.
- Magic Cue now uses Gemini to surface info from your apps; Rambler in Gboard turns rambling speech into clean text.
- Camera AI: Magic Capture (best frames from ~400 analysed, auto-crop and unblur), Instant Night Sight (Pro models), Circle to Search in the viewfinder.
- Live Translate now dubs videos, podcasts and voice messages using on-device models on Tensor G6.
Pixel 11 Lineup, Prices and Tensor G6
| Model | US price | Storage | Notable extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 11 | $899 | From 256 GB | Full Gemini Intelligence |
| Pixel 11 Pro | $1,099 | From 256 GB | Instant Night Sight |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | $1,299 | From 256 GB | Instant Night Sight, up to 120x zoom |
Google says Tensor G6 brings about 20% better power efficiency and 25% faster web browsing, plus a new image signal processor and the ability to run newer AI models with lower latency. Google did not publish detailed AI benchmark numbers.
Note the Pro XL is $100 more than last year, and there is no cheaper 128 GB option this time.
Gemini Intelligence: Agentic Tasks
The biggest new idea is that Gemini can do things, not just answer. On Pixel 11, Gemini can handle multistep tasks across more than 40 apps. In the US, examples include ordering groceries, booking a ride and buying a coffee.
It can also phone a business to make a reservation or appointment, and you can review the transcript of the AI-handled call afterwards. You can take over or stop a task at any time.
Google lists connected apps rolling out over the following weeks, including Granola, Otter.ai, Wix, Fever, GetYourGuide, Localiza, OpenTable (UK), Ticketmaster, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Angi, Thumbtack and Zocdoc. Agentic features are for users aged 18+ in select countries and languages, and usage limits may apply.
How to try it: long-press the power button (or say “Hey Google”) and describe the task, for example Order my usual groceries from last week and schedule delivery for Saturday morning. Gemini shows each step and asks you to confirm before paying.
A small hardware touch: the rear Gemini indicator LED lights up for calls or messages from favourite contacts and shows when Gemini is listening or thinking.
Magic Cue and Proactive Cards
Magic Cue debuted on the Pixel 10 and now uses Gemini to pull information from across your apps at the right moment.
If a friend texts asking where you are having dinner, Magic Cue can surface the reservation from your email; if you call an airline, your booking number appears.
Pixel 11 adds proactive cards (glanceable booking details and flight status), proactive suggestions inside conversations (lock in a reservation with a tap), and location-based insights on the lock screen, such as popular dishes at a restaurant you just walked into, drawn from Google Maps reviews and photos (launching in Preview).
Rambler and Gboard AI
Rambler is Google’s Gemini-powered dictation in Gboard. You can talk naturally, with “um”, “ah” and mid-sentence corrections, and it produces clean, punctuated text, similar to apps like Wispr Flow.
Gboard also gets enhanced writing tools that adapt messages to your personal style, and Sign-to-text, which uses Google DeepMind’s SL2T model to convert sign language captured by the camera into text. Rambler is available in select countries and languages.
To use Rambler, tap the microphone in Gboard and just speak; if it is not active, check Gboard settings > Voice typing.

Camera AI: Magic Capture, Night Sight, Circle to Search
- Magic Capture: analyses roughly 400 frames per session with on-device intelligence and Gemini models, then gives you the best 12 MP shots, auto-cropped and unblurred, and records a video at the same time without switching modes. Ideal for kids, pets and sports.
- Instant Night Sight (Pro and Pro XL): captures Night Sight photos up to 4.5x faster than Pixel 8, 9 and 10, so low-light shots no longer need you to hold still for seconds.
- Circle to Search in Camera: identify objects in the viewfinder before you even take the photo. Requires an internet connection.
- Camera Looks: new default looks (Natural, Shadows, Vanilla) plus six more (Digi, Black Tie, Minimal, Editorial, Classic, Velvet), all customisable.
- Creator Suite: a teleprompter that scrolls as you talk, project folders and a Storyboard editor for clips.
Live Translate and Dubbing
Live Translate on Pixel 11 does real-time speech-to-speech translation and can now automatically dub videos, podcasts and voice messages into your language using on-device generative models on Tensor G6.
That means a voice note from a relative in another language, or a foreign-language video, can play back in your language.
Google notes it is not available for all media or apps, translation may not be instant, and language and country support is limited at launch.
Other AI Features
- Live Transcribe has a redesigned interface.
- Call features such as Call Screen and call transcripts carry over from earlier Pixels, now with Gemini-handled business calls on top.
- Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing lets you talk through what you are looking at.
- Circle to Search works system-wide, as on other modern Android phones.

How to Set Up Pixel 11 AI Features
- During setup, sign in with your Google account and accept Gemini as the default assistant.
- Open the Gemini app > Settings > Apps and connect services you use (Gmail, Calendar, Spotify, Google Home and the new partner apps).
- Go to Settings > Apps > Magic Cue (or search “Magic Cue” in Settings) and allow the apps it can read.
- In Gboard settings, check that voice typing and Rambler are on.
- In the Camera app, open settings to choose your default Look and enable Magic Capture.
- For Live Translate, open Settings > System > Live Translate and download languages for offline use.
Privacy tip: review Gemini Apps Activity and choose how long chats are kept. Many Pixel features (Magic Capture, Live Translate dubbing, Night Sight) run on device, while agentic tasks, Circle to Search and proactive suggestions use the cloud.
Should You Upgrade?
- From Pixel 10: only if you want agentic Gemini tasks and faster Night Sight now. Many software features tend to reach recent Pixels through Pixel Drops, so waiting can make sense.
- From Pixel 8 or 9: yes, if AI features matter to you. Tensor G6, on-device dubbing and Magic Capture are a real step up.
- From an iPhone or Galaxy: compare with my guides to Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 and Galaxy AI in One UI 9. Pixel leads on agentic Gemini and camera AI; Galaxy has broader on-device translation tools; iPhone leads on privacy messaging.
Which Pixel 11 Should You Buy?
All three models get the same Gemini Intelligence features, Magic Cue, Rambler and Live Translate dubbing, because those run on Tensor G6 and in the cloud. The differences that matter are camera hardware and screen size.
| If you are… | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mainly here for the AI features | Pixel 11 ($899) | Same agentic Gemini, Magic Cue, Rambler and dubbing as the Pro models for $200 less |
| Taking lots of night, concert or kids’ photos | Pixel 11 Pro ($1,099) | Instant Night Sight captures up to 4.5x faster in low light |
| Wanting the biggest screen and longest zoom | Pixel 11 Pro XL ($1,299) | Up to 120x zoom and a larger display for reading Gemini task steps and transcripts |
| On a Pixel 10 or Pixel 10 Pro | Probably wait | Magic Cue and many Gemini features are already on your phone; the big new extras are camera and dubbing |
| On a Pixel 8 or older | Pixel 11 | You gain Tensor G6 on-device models, Magic Cue, Rambler and seven years of updates |
Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 vs iPhone 17 for AI
All three are good AI phones, but they take different routes. Here is how they compare on the things that change daily use. I have kept this to features each company documents, not lab benchmarks.
| Area | Pixel 11 | Galaxy S26 | iPhone 17 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant | Gemini, built in, can act across 40+ apps (US first) | Gemini plus Galaxy AI tools in One UI | Siri with Apple Intelligence, optional ChatGPT hand-off |
| Chip | Tensor G6 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy | Apple A19 |
| AI phone calls for you | Yes, reservations and appointments (US) | Call assist and live translate on calls | Live Translation in calls |
| Proactive info | Magic Cue across apps, proactive cards | Now Brief and Now Bar | Siri suggestions, notification summaries |
| Dictation | Rambler cleans up natural speech | Standard voice typing plus writing assist | Standard dictation plus Writing Tools |
| Best for | People who want the phone to do errands | People who want the most AI editing tools and S Pen (Ultra) | People already deep in the Apple ecosystem |
If you are choosing between them, my rule is simple: pick the Pixel 11 for Gemini doing things for you, the Galaxy for the widest set of photo and note tools, and the iPhone if your Mac, Watch and iMessage matter more than any single AI feature.
For Samsung’s features in depth, see my Galaxy AI guide, and for Apple see the iOS 27 Apple Intelligence guide.
Privacy: What Runs On-Device and What Goes to the Cloud
- On-device on Tensor G6: Live Translate dubbing of voice messages and videos, much of Magic Capture’s frame analysis, and Gemini Nano features such as call notes and summaries.
- Cloud (Gemini): agentic tasks across apps, AI-handled phone calls to businesses, and most open-ended Gemini chats.
- Your controls: open the Gemini app, tap your profile, then Gemini Apps Activity to turn off saving or delete history. You can review and delete AI call transcripts after a call.
- Payments: Gemini asks you to confirm before paying for anything in an agentic task, and you can stop or take over at any step.
Pixel 11 AI Features Not Working? Fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Agentic tasks or AI calls missing | Region, language or age limit | These launched in the US first, for users 18+ in select languages. Check your Google account country and phone language, and look for the feature again after app updates. |
| Power button opens the old menu, not Gemini | Default assistant not set | Settings, search “digital assistant”, choose Gemini, then set the power button long-press to Gemini. |
| Magic Cue shows nothing | Feature off or apps not connected | Settings, search “Magic Cue”, turn it on and allow access to Gmail, Messages and Calendar. It needs a few days of use to learn. |
| Rambler not cleaning up speech | Gboard out of date or language unsupported | Update Gboard in the Play Store, then check Gboard settings, Voice typing. |
| Live Translate will not dub a video | Language pack not downloaded | Open Live Translate settings and download the language packs for on-device use. |
| Features vanished after setup | Pending system or Gemini update | Settings, System, Software updates, then update the Google and Gemini apps in the Play Store and restart. |
Frequently Asked Questions
When was the Pixel 11 released?
Google announced it and opened preorders on August 12, 2026, with store availability from August 20, 2026.
Will Pixel 10 get Pixel 11 AI features?
Google has not confirmed which features will come to older Pixels. Some, like Magic Cue, already exist on Pixel 10; hardware-dependent ones like Instant Night Sight are tied to Tensor G6.
Do Pixel 11 agentic tasks work in India or the UK?
Grocery, ride and coffee ordering launched for US users. Some partner apps, such as OpenTable UK, point to wider rollout, but check availability in your country.
Does the Pixel 11 need a Gemini subscription?
No for the built-in features. Google AI Pro or Ultra add higher limits and extras like auto browse in Chrome; see my Gemini in Chrome guide.
What happened to Google Assistant on Pixel?
Gemini fully replaced it. Read my Gemini replaces Google Assistant guide for settings to change.
Is the base Pixel 11 enough for all the AI features?
Yes. Gemini agentic tasks, Magic Cue, Rambler and Live Translate dubbing are on all three models. The Pro models add camera extras such as Instant Night Sight.
Can I turn off Gemini on the Pixel 11?
You can switch the default digital assistant off in Settings and turn off Gemini Apps Activity, but many Pixel features, including Magic Cue, depend on Gemini and will stop working.
Are AI phone calls to businesses safe?
Gemini tells you what it plans to do, you can review the call transcript afterwards, and it asks before any payment. Use it for bookings and appointments rather than anything involving sensitive personal or medical details.
Final Thoughts
Pixel 11 is the clearest example yet of a phone sold on AI rather than hardware. Agentic Gemini tasks and AI-handled phone calls are the headline, but the features I expect most people to use daily are quieter: Rambler dictation, Magic Capture for moving subjects and Live Translate dubbing for voice notes. If you are in the US and like the idea of delegating errands to your phone, it is the most capable Android AI phone right now.
